Tips to help you stay fit while vacationing
Vacations are supposed to be happy, worry-free times. However, many people – myself included- end up overthinking about staying on track with their health and fitness goals! If you are anything like me and are wondering how you can stay fit during your vacation while enjoying it, read more here as I’ll share with you a few easy to follow tips and tricks.
How to stay fit on your next vacation:
Here are some tips that will help you stay true to your fitness goals while having fun!
Ditch the taxis & trolleys
Instead of taking taxis and trolleys everywhere you go, put on your walking shoes and head out sight-seeing. Not only is walking a great exercise, but you can also better take in the scents, sights and the culture when you’re visiting on foot.
Play with your kids
If you are traveling with your kids this vacation, make sure that you spend some time playing with them. It is an awesome way to bond with your children while burning calories at the same time!
Opt for stairs
During my last vacation, I managed to climb the most number of floors ever according to my FitBit! I was burning through calories so fast just because I left elevators behind and went for the stairs every single time.
Plan to move
As with anything else in life, the best way to get things done is to plan them ahead. So spend some time deciding where you will go and what activities you will do the day before. This will help you balance things out throughout your day.
Book for fitness
One of the things I do when I am traveling is try and find hotels with gyms and book them. This helps motivate me to exercise every day. Moreover, morning workouts encourage me to eat healthy during the day.
Don’t overdo it
Remember this: doing some exercise is always better than not doing any at all. So don’t try to overdo it with the exercise. Also, don’t allow yourself to feel guilty about failing to complete your usual fitness routine.
Go for win-win situations
There are so many activities that you can enjoy while elevating your heart rate and moving those muscles. Mountain climbing, paddling, scuba diving and salsa dancing are only a few. So make sure that you break free and enjoy new adventures.
Avoid skipping meals
It is very easy to lose time on vacation and end up skipping meals. However, if you want to stay fit you need to make sure that you avoid skipping meals. One way to do that is by keeping some healthy snacks with you when you are out and about.
When you don’t take in enough fluids, your body can easily mistake thirst with hunger. This will lead you to eat more than you should. So make sure that you stay hydrated, especially when out in the sun.
